Covid-19

Covid-19 Guest Information

Dear guests & Geilo-friends, we are so looking forward to welcoming you all to Geilo and great ski-days!
This season you may find things are slightly different from previous visits. We have taken many precautions to ensure everybody in our mountains stay safe and sound. When you are visiting our slopes, please remember the three main principles:

1 - Keep your distance from people you do not know
2 - Please practice good hygiene, wash your hands, use the hand sanitizers frequently, and sneeze or cough into your elbow
3 - Go home if you feel unwell

The health and safety of all our customers and staff are of the most importance to us. We continue to review guidelines and update our procedures to ensure we can provide you with a safe environment at our resort. Apart from the obviously increased cleaning in high-traffic areas and surfaces, we have outlined what you can expect while enjoying safe skiing in the slopes of Geilo:

Visiting our mountain & Contact Tracing

Getting to the mountain – Ski bus
Our buses will be operating at approx. 50% capacity to ensure we maintain safe physical distancing. This applies to both our buses taking you from your accommodation to the slopes, as well as our shuttles during the day. We appreciate your patience as it may take us a little longer to move everyone about, but do not worry! The next bus is only a few minutes away 
Our ski busses are equipped with hand sanitizers, and the interior surfaces of our buses will be wiped down twice every day with disinfectant.

Contact Tracing
When visiting our mountain, you must hold a SmartCard (this is the plastic card your lift pass is loaded on). To make sure we have contact information to all our guests, we may ask for your name and phone number or email when loading your lift pass. If you buy via our online shop, the contact information will be loaded automatically, and you can go straight to the lift. You may buy your lift pass online here.

Guest Services Team
During your time spent in the mountains and especially in our base areas, you may notice that we have a “Guest Service Team”. They are there to make sure guests remember to keep proper distance in the queue, help with questions, and provide further assistance if needed. Do not be afraid to ask them if you have any queries!

Skipass - Skischool - Skirental:

Ski School
Our ski school will run more or less as usual! But, there will be some alterations, and they will absolutely benefit you as our guest!
All lesson sizes will be limited to ensure the group can maintain appropriate safety and distancing.
We will still be operating SkiPlay, but please make sure your child has dressed appropriately for the snow and has their own personal items, including goggles and gloves.
Our ski school product will be bookable on-site, but please remember that there will be less capacity, and we would absolutely recommend that you book online – both to ensure that we have available for you and also: No need to stand in a boring queue! You may book your ski school here.

Managing physical distancing

In SkiGeilo we will do several measures in the mountain and the common areas to ensure all can responsibly manage physical distancing and keep everyone safe.
•    Our Guest Service Team will control the lift- and ski bus queues to make sure the proper distance is kept.
•    Single gate will be closed to make sure people from different households will not share lifts
•    All indoor areas where we may expect queues will have floor marking showing the proper distance to fellow guest
•    All our restaurants, ski school, and ski busses will have capacity limitations to ensure physical distancing

In our mountain

Lift queues and chairlifts
When in a lift queue, chairlift, or T-Bar, you can be with other members of your household, but you must keep a proper distance between yourself and other guests you do not know. Just remember tip to tail while in the queue! Our lift staff and service team will help you to remember distancing, in case you are having such a great time in the slopes that it slips your mind!
We do ask that when you are using chairlifts and T-bars you wear gloves.
Our staff will be regularly disinfecting every chair, button lift and t-bar, and other high touchpoints around the lift areas.
With physical distancing in lift queues, things might move a little slower than usual so we appreciate your patience and kindness while everyone enjoys the slopes.

Food & beverage
Our F&B areas are always operating under strict rules and guidelines from the Department of Health.
We have different solutions in our 7 different eateries, and we can guarantee they are all operating with very high cleaning standards and all the tables will be spaced appropriately. In some restaurants, you will experience table service, and in others take away or over-the-counter service. In some, you might also order your meal from an app on your phone!
We will have floor markings and signage to help our guests remember to keep a distance from other guests.
If you are bringing your own lunch to the mountain, you may enjoy this at our designated lunch rooms. Of course, the same high cleaning standards will apply here as well. Our indoor dining areas will be reserved for guests purchasing food and/or drinks in our restaurants.

Our fantastic Staff
Our staff will do everything they can to keep themselves and our guest's safe while on our mountain. All our staff has to complete a Corona-awareness-test, including updated regulations, hygiene requirements, and other important information before they are allowed to meet our guests or even work “behind the scenes” in SkiGeilo. We have an absolute “Stay home” policy if any employees feel unwell, and we are very much aware our most important task is to make sure both our staff and our guests feel safe and protected in our mountains.

We would like to go cash-less (but we have not yet!)
As per Norwegian law, we are not allowed to not accept cash as a valid payment. However, we do prefer that you use a debit or credit card. BTW: Did you know that you can also load money on to your SmartCard prior to arriving on the mountain? Just to keep it as easy as possible when skiing! You can load up money to your SmartCard here
